Hi,
My friends, today’s story is of an Amputee police officer and
Paralympics athlete “Jeff Skiba”. Jeff Skiba is a
police officer and a Paralympics athlete from the United States, who won gold
and silver medals in Paralympics.
Let me tell you more about him
Jeff Skiba’s Paralympic Experience:
2004 Paralympic Games, silver (high jump)2008 Paralympic Games, gold (high jump), silver (pentathlon)
2012 Paralympic Games, silver (high jump), 8th (javelin)
2011 IPC World Championship, silver medal (high jump)
2006 IPC World Championship, gold medal (high jump),
fourth place (long jump)
2006 U.S. Paralympic National Championship, gold medal
(pentathlon)2002 IPC World Championship, gold medal (high jump)
2002 International Challenge Track and Field, gold medal (high jump)
He never let
that slow him down and a decade later he’s still at it. On Sept. 8, this time
on the world stage, Skiba thrust himself 2.04 meters, or 6 feet and 8.3 inches,
to clear the bar and win the silver medal at the London Paralympics.
Now a police
officer in San Diego, Jeff Skiba is still training and already has his eye on
Rio de Janeiro, home of the 2016 Paralympics. Jeff says, “The London experience
was awesome and all it did was motivate me to get ready for Rio in four years,”
he said. “I want to get the gold medal back and my world record back.”
