Let me tell you more about her
At the age of 19, after experiencing flu-like symptoms for about 24 hours, she was rushed to the hospital in a state of septic shock. En route to the hospital, Amy experienced respiratory and multiple organ failure. These factors, combined with a blood condition called disseminated intravascular coagulation, in which the blood becomes extremely thin and creates microscopic blood clots, caused Amy to lose circulation to her feet, hands, nose, ears, and kidneys, and caused her lungs and adrenal glands to hemorrhage. Miraculously, her heart and brain were unaffected.  After 26  pints of blood  and removal of her ruptured spleen, doctors diagnosed Amy with Bacterial Meningitis. Following this, Amy was in a coma  for close to three weeks, and doctors gave her less then a two-percent chance of survival.  Due to the lack of circulation she had suffered at the beginning of her ordeal, doctors had to amputate her legs below the knee, miraculously her other extremities regained their circulation and escaped amputation.
Almost two years later Amy participated in Nevada's first Laparoscopic Kidney Transplant surgery receiving a kidney from her father. In 2002 Amy received a grant from the Challenged Athletes Foundation, which allowed her to travel to various snowboarding competitions in the US. Just weeks after her kidney transplant, Amy entered the USASA national snowboarding competition, where she won medals in three events.

In 2003 Amy spent most of her time in California which opened several doors for her in the modeling and acting industry. In February of that year she played a runway model in a music video for Madonna, who reportedly took a personal interest in Amy, coaching her through her video role and commenting on her amazing spirit. Adding to her challenges and accomplishments in May of 2004 Amy landed the lead female role in the independent film What's Bugging Seth.
Amy has modeled for various photography projects, including a recent Nikki Sixx project where her legs are custom made from steel to look like icepicks. Amy was featured in the first edition of Fugue Magazine”. Amy also recently was featured on The Entertainment Tonight Insider which focused on her acting and modeling career. Amy is also an accomplished Makeup Artist and is recently a new Advocate for the Element Eden a skateboard and lifestyle company.

Amy's most significant accomplish to date is in the creation and development of the action sport athletic organization;  Adaptive Action Sports.  In 2005 Amy and her partner Daniel Gale founded the non-profit organization to help adaptive athletes get involved with action sports, art and music. Amy helps organize advanced adaptive freestyle camps and help AAS develop  skate and  snowboard camps for youth, young adults and wounded veterans. As of 2011, Amy is  top ranked  in the world for Adaptive Snowboarding and is working hard with Adaptive Action Sports and other organizations to get snowboarding into the Paralympics. Amy has played a significant role in the action sport movement within the disabled community and plans to continue challenging herself with her athletic and artistic passions while helping others do the same.
My friends, After going through this life-altering trauma, Amy challenged herself to move on with her life and not only regain some sense of normalcy, but also attain goals that even people who have both legs struggle to achieve. She has the amazing ability to constantly redefine herself. Be strong; be positive we can achieve what we want. I am here for you guys and I will keep updating relevant information, Real Stories and Details about Advance Technology Prosthetics for you. About us

This blog is the brainchild of my own, who lost his Right Leg Above-knee due to negligence and carelessness in treatment. Ultimately, this harsh experience was the driving force to create a blog in order to help people with physical disabilities. My blog intends to encourage people with disabilities, tries to lift their optimism and hopes to help to overcome bias in order to reduce prejudices against all physically disabled worldwide. Inevitably, we cannot change all these long-standing stereotypes, intolerances and inequality issues in many countries simply over night. However, we strongly believe that every little success helps to lift the optimism of those who are concerned and conveys the important message that no-one on this planet should be coerced into a feeling of inferiority simply because of a physical disability. Our aim is to demonstrate that, firstly, “Disability” is by no means contradictory terms. Secondly, disabled people are as happy and have the same quality and standard of life as their able-bodied contemporaries. And last but not least: there is no point in worrying about finding the right guy, girl, partner or soul mate, and also no reason to hide from the world because of a physical disability.

Our aims and objectives:

  • Improve quality of life for all amputees.
  • Encourage amputees to develop a positive approach to living with amputation through motivational and inspirational stories.
  • Educate amputees with information on Latest Advanced Technology Artificial limbs or Prosthetics and all aspects of amputation.
  • Raise awareness about issues as diverse as the experiences and abilities of amputees.

Neeraj George Baby – Amputee Badminton Champion

Hi,

My friends, today’s story is of great Indian amputee badminton champion Neeraj George Baby. Neeraj George Baby covers the badminton court with ease and smashes the shuttlecock into the opponent's turf. Neeraj is left leg above knee amputee. He clinched a gold in doubles and silver in singles at the 2008 Asian Paralympics Cup and also secured titles in the National level tournaments.

Let me tell you more about him

Neeraj George Baby covers the badminton court with ease and smashes the shuttlecock into the opponent's turf. Through fierce dedication and painstaking hard work, this 24-year-old differently-abled player triumphed over all odds to excel in this high energy sport.  Neeraj, whose life took a shocking turn when his left leg had to be amputated because of bone tumour during school days, is the first player from Kerala to win an international level badminton championship for the differently-abled.

He clinched a gold in doubles and silver in singles at the 2008 Asian Paralympics Cup and also secured titles in the National level tournaments. The victories have only strengthened his resolve. However, his preparation and performance have been affected by the lack of financial assistance.

Having qualified for the 19th Para-badminton World Championships to be held in Guatemala in November, this prospective medal winner from Aluva is now in search of a corporate sponsor who can fetch him Rs. 1.7 lakh to appear for the competition. Though a bit disappointed over being ignored by the government, other private sponsors and more importantly by the public, his confidence is not shaken. “This is for the third time that I have qualified for the world championships. But I am yet to appear in the tournament. This year, I cannot afford to miss the event as that may spell the end of my career,” says Neeraj. He also notes that other countries offer extensive support to their physically challenged sportspersons.

To support his fight for the recognition of physically challenged sportsmen, Neeraj is now planning to form an association of Para-badminton players, which, he believes, will help in addressing their collective concerns.

My friends Neeraj never stopped fighting with his financial and physical condition, inspite of this his strong will power, positive attitude, inner strength, strong mind, courage and passion towards sports made him a badminton champion. Be strong; be positive we can achieve what we want. I am here for you guys and I will keep updating relevant information, Real Stories and Details about Advance Technology Prosthetics for you. If you have any question or query and need my help on anything you can mail me at jas.singh474@gmail.com.
